Clean Ones® Corporation has been in the glove business for 25 years, dating back to 1984 when they saw an opportunity in the industry. Frustrated with the high cost, low quality and lack of innovation with the current gloves on the market, Clean Ones set out to create high quality, high value gloves marketed under the brand name Clean Ones® For Clean Hands On Dirty Jobs®.

In the first year of business the company sold 97,600 gloves. Since then Clean Ones has grown from one small warehouse where everything was hand packed, to operating out of three fully automated distribution centers on the west, east and southern coasts. From its headquarters in Portland, Oregon, Clean Ones has literally sold billions of gloves over the years and continues to grow across the United States and internationally.  Our products are sold at well established retailers such as Costco, Sam’s, Walmart, Kmart, Harris Teeter and A&P.

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT & MARKET DEVELOPMENT

This role, reporting to the CEO, will have immediate and primary focus on identifying gaps in our existing product lines and developing new sku’s and line extensions from the products we currently sell to grocery, drug, mass and wholesale clubs in North America.  The secondary focus will be on adapting or creating new sku’s of current products for new departments and new retail classes of trade.  This role will also be responsible for creating co-branding and co-marketing opportunities.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Identify new products and opportunities that will increase sales and profits and our importance as a vendor to our customer base.
  • Create sku’s of current products for new departments and new retail classes of trade as well as the brand messaging associated with each new class.
  • Create co-branding and co-marketing opportunities.
  • Work with Sales and Finance Departments to determine what level of sales/profits these new items will create annually and for the next five years and meet that level.
  • Be aware of changing trends in the competitive landscape at all times.
  • Create value propositions for new products.
  • Create new retail packaging, shipping cases and merchandising vehicles.
  • Manage the creation of graphics and artwork for new and existing products.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers for current and new products.
  • Work with domestic and foreign suppliers by phone, computer and visiting their locations when needed.
  • Oversee QC and compliance as well as third-party testing of products.
  • Work with sales, finance and supply chain to develop annual marketing plans and strategies for current and new products and brand opportunities.
  • Manage, coach, develop, hire and train marketing staff.
  • Create and manage annual marketing budgets, goals and objectives.
  • Participate in annual reviews of corporate performance and the creation of future corporate goals.
  • Effective oral and written presentation skills are required.
  • Former experience in product management and/or business development required.
  • Frequent travel required up to 30%.

This position is located in downtown Portland, Oregon.  Portland is situated between the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful Cascade Mountain range and has a vibrant downtown with an active waterfront.
